A successful SCCA June Sprints is in the books for Wynnfurst Racing
The annual Father's Day weekend Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints rolled into Elkhart Lake's Road America this past weekend. This event was another stop on the 2019 SCCA Hoosier Tire Super Tour Series and an opportunity for Wynnfurst Racing to compete in front of a home crowd. With Road America being the site of the 2020 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, this years event brought stiff competition from across the country and saw a strong field in the Prototype 1 class. With a colder than normal weekend and a wet one at times, the Wynnfurst Racing crew buckled down and set their sights on a strong weekend.
Saturday's race saw Jason start from the Pole in his Kohler Powered / Hoosier Tire / Millennium Technologies / Wynnfurst Racing Prototype 1 #8. With some strong pressure from the second place car Jason drove a flawless race and brought home his first victory of the weekend as the Saturday race winner at the June Sprints.
Sunday's race again saw Jason start from the Pole position in the P1 class in this split start race. The new Hoosier Tires meant the car was on rails. Not only was Jason able to hold off the pressure from the second place P1 car he was also able to bring home a second victory of the weekend. Completing a sweep of the June Sprints in the P1 class and repeating as the Sunday winner as he won the 2018 June Sprints Sunday race!
Strong Kohler Engines that provided the needed power and awesome reliability were essential in these victories. A huge thank you to Hoosier Tire for the amazing tires that provided extreme grip and durability! We couldn't do this without all the support of our amazing partners - Kohler, Hoosier Tire, Millennium Technologies, Cyclo, Redpaw Dog Food, Ballistic Performance Components and an amazing crew who put in long hours, endured the cold wet weather and were critical in ensuring these victories were possible! Next up for Jason and his P1 car will be the SCCA CAT Majors at Road America July 12 - 14.
